Choosing Green Acres Nextgen Cavaliers
Green Acres Nextgen Cavaliers in Boring, Oregon specializes in purebred, therapy‑quality Cavalier King Charles Spaniels raised with intention, science, and heart. Our fully health‑tested puppies make exceptional companions for families, children, and therapy programs throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Our breeding program is built on a foundation of genetics, behavior science, and responsible canine husbandry. Every breeding decision is guided by comprehensive DNA analysis, OFA‑based health evaluations, and temperament scoring designed to reduce inherited risks and promote long‑term wellness. Puppies benefit from early neurological stimulation, sensory‑rich socialization, and structured developmental milestones rooted in current research on companion‑animal behavior.
As one of Oregon’s forward‑thinking Cavalier programs, we are committed to ethical breeding practices, transparent communication, and producing dogs with exceptional health, structure, and emotional stability. Families across Portland, the Willamette Valley, Central Oregon, and the Oregon Coast trust our Cavaliers for their gentle nature, intuitive companionship, and therapy‑ready temperaments.

Are Cavalier King Charles Spaniels good with children?
Yes. Cavaliers are widely recognized for their gentle, affectionate, and family‑friendly temperament. They are patient, sociable, and typically get along very well with children, making them a strong choice for families seeking a calm, people‑oriented companion. Their adaptable energy level also helps them match the pace of both active and quiet households.

What makes your puppies great as therapy dogs or emotional support animals?
Cavaliers have a long history as comfort‑oriented companion dogs, originally bred for closeness and emotional connection. Their gentle, intuitive, and people‑focused nature makes them exceptionally well‑suited for therapy work in hospitals, schools, senior communities, and emotional‑support settings. Their calm demeanor, trainability, and adaptability are key reasons they excel in structured therapy programs.

How do I start the adoption process in Oregon?
In Oregon, the adoption process typically begins by reaching out to the breeder and sharing a little bit about who you are and what you are looking for.  The person best as placement is often the breeder as they have a solid understanding of the family of dogs and each puppy specifically.  So, it is not uncommon for the breeder to ask if you would be interested in a specific gender or color but then to make a recommendation following that for you rather than the other way around.

About

Owner: Marilyn Griffin

Hello! My name is Marilyn Griffin, and I proudly serve as the owner and president of Green Acres Nextgen. My life’s work has always centered around animals and people—raising and caring for dogs, managing a small farm, operating a successful boarding and daycare business, and supporting young people through mentorship and education. These experiences shaped not only my skill set, but also my belief in the powerful, healing connection between humans and animals.
In 2021, I set out to bring all of these passions together under one purpose: creating meaningful, life‑enhancing relationships between people and animals. At Green Acres Nextgen Cavaliers, that mission comes to life through ethical, health‑focused breeding and intentional socialization practices. Whether through therapeutic interactions, emotional‑support placements, or the joy of welcoming a well‑bred puppy into a family home, my goal is to ensure that both people and animals thrive.
Our approach reflects the same values that guide Green Acres K‑9 Resort—compassion, transparency, responsible care, and a deep respect for the animals entrusted to us. By combining decades of hands‑on experience with evidence‑based breeding and husbandry, we’re building a program where every dog is raised with purpose, and every family receives a companion who brings comfort, connection, and joy.
